Quote Challenge – Day 2

Thank you to Claire from Becoming Proactive for welcoming me to the Quote Challenge.

The challenge is to:
• Post a quote for three consecutive days (one quote for each day).
• Share why this quote appeals so much to you.
• Nominate three different for bloggers for each day.

Since I am just starting out with blogging, I don’t know enough bloggers to do the last rule! I am going to ignore this rule, and invite you, the reader, to take up this challenge.

Here is my quote for the second day:

“I’m going to jump… while I still can.”

Joshua Becker – Becoming Minimalist

I would highly recommend reading the post I linked above, as it tells the story behind it. Essentially, we should take the chances that life gives us, before time takes that chance away.

What this means to me

This quote inspires me to take the opportunities before me, not to postpone them. This is the attitude that means I’ll be going on a trip to Japan this year, instead of putting it off until some undetermined time in the future.

It’s the attitude that Khin and I took a couple of years ago, when I quit my stable job, and we turned her solo business into a partnership, with no guarantee of pay except what we could earn for ourselves.

It also means to take the day-to-day opportunities. Taking the time to tell my wife I love her, and to do something to make her smile today. Taking the time to visit my grandmother and keep her company. Going on a hike this Saturday instead of putting it off for a “better” time.

After all, today only happens once.
