I’ve been away from the blog for the past week or so, because I’ve just been on a trip to Melbourne!
Part of recent changes that Khin and I made in our lives is putting more time and money towards travel, which is one of our favourite things to do. We now put away a set portion of our weekly budget towards a travel fund, which makes us feel less guilty about spending on travel.
There were two big reasons that we went to Melbourne in April. First was to celebrate my 29th birthday. We spend several days around Melbourne, going to the Zoo, Museum, and the Botanic Gardens. These are our favourite places to visit in any city, and this was our first holiday trip to Melbourne. We also took an hour river cruise along Melbourne’s Yarra River. We’ll certainly be seeing more of the city next time we visit!
Secondly, Joe Hisaishi was playing in concert for the first time outside of Japan, and we just had to go! If you don’t know him, Joe Hisaishi composed all of the music for Studio Ghibli’s films, like Spirited Away and Kiki’s Delivery Service. Khin and I are both big fans of the movies and the music, so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to go.
Suffice it to say, the concert was amazing, and seeing Joe Hisaishi conducting and playing on piano was an experience I will never forget.
It inspires me to spend more of my time and money on experiences, and less on stuff I don’t need, like the latest gaming console and games.
